Ok hey as most of you may know, i've only been really playing guitar for about 7 months.

I dont have any pedals yet, but i have messed around with some that belong to some of my friends.

I was wondering if you have any suggestions for like some sort of "beginning" pedal. Something not to expensive, that'll give me at least some distortion, if not a variety of sounds. Thanks for any advice...

I recommend that you stay away from danelectro. They're cheap but you'll want an upgrade in no time. I know from experience.

Boss and Digitech are among the better pedals out there, most of them are pretty affordable. The Boss DS-1 is a decent pedal. If you're looking, it's an orange pedal, it shouldn't cost you much more than $40. It isn't a great sound but it's really good for the price, if you fiddle with the pedal and your amp you can get a pretty good sound.

Zoom makes some great pedals, especially combo ones. I have one which cost me $140, best investment I've made for guitar. If that's not as much as you'd like to spend though, then I agree with popmusic, Boss and Digitech both make good pedals. Let me know some more details and I'll see what I can find.

Zoom, Boss, Digitech, all good and affordable. I own a Digitech RP200, and it's hard to beat for the price(not much more than $100 now).

Yeah your first pedal shoud be a Wah or a Boss CE-5 chorus, or if u want to be a bit mad and have a bit of cash to spend then get a POD alot of variation in sounds for newbies and advanced players to suit all

POD is great but Johnson JamStation is way better, ... THE BEST.

Amp simulation is great, even JamStation designers couldn't
hear any differences between simulation and original.
Includes: MesaBoogie, Marshall, Fender ... Amp with
few channels (clean 1 and somethimes 2, an distortion/overdrive).
And of Course some modulation efects. I do not own one :(
but i've played on it in a music store. great pedal,
good for rehersals/concerts great great great for studio
or home recording.

bad news, i think they are no longer produced :(
