Hello, I'm new to the forum, so I'll start asking questions like any newbe.
I've been playing bass effectively for a year within a period of two years, but recently I've picked it up again and I'm practicing very seriously now.
I'm practicing on an old 10W guitar amp (it's hilarious, but it gives me an impression) or just without one (it really trains the muscles! :D).
You'd probably guess I'm looking for a decent amp, and you'd be right.

To come to the point: I'm looking for a practice amp, that I could use at a bandrehearsel (I had an offer, but I'm not convinced I'm ready).
My idea was to buy a middlepriced amp (between $300-$600), that I can use for a longer period of time.
Probably an Ampeg BA 115, SWR Working man 10/12 or a Peavey TNT-115.
I'm playing on a 4-string Yamaha BB-404, which off course could influence the choice with regards to the sound of it.

Any suggestion would be very helpful! ;)

Hey, and welcome to the forums. Bass amps aren't my thing (I play guitar), so I'll let someone else offer you some advice. I'm just going to move this thread to the Music Accessories forum since you'd like information about an amp. Any bass related questions though, feel free to post in the Bass forum, we have some big bass gurus here!

Get a 2000 watt Carvin.. its only like $3000 :D

Well I don't know much about bass amps, my friend uses some ****ty green thing that i dont even know the brand of.. but Carvin and Peavey are usually pretty reliable brands to look into. I have a peavey 5150 and i love it :)

Yeah, Peavey makes some good bass amps, so I heard and witnessed.
I'm not sure though, the Ampeg is quite versatile also.

I hope someone can help me pinpoint my choice ;) .

As I had mentioned before, I don't know much in the way of bass amps, but I do know this; before I would buy an amp I'd go to my local Guitar Center and try it out, nice and loud! :tunes:

If you haven't already done that, try it. Even if all the amps you're considering are good, only you can decide which sound you like best.

Hi, I'm probably going to buy a second hand SWR Baby Blue II combo amp.
I read some reviews and it's supposed to have quite a quality sound, but not as much volume, just what I need.
The price for a new one is about $ 1100, but this one is $ 450!
Looks like a nice deal to me.

Ampeg is real nice but they are pricey. If your just looking for something to play in the house I would suggest peavy. But if you going to be gigging and your only looking to spend that much you might want to check out ebay. I've gotten some good stuff from there and at a third of the price if not less most of the times. There is always some parent that got thier kid the top of the line stuff just to find out little Billy can't play squat so they get rid of it at a real low price, or some college kid who just gave up the dream, or is taking a break from it for now.
here is some links to a couple of combo amps
